IF Huong Thi Lien Nguyen needed any tips on university life during her time in Wollongong, help was just a phone call to Hanoi away.
The Bachelor of Commerce graduate's mother is Dean of Vietnam's National Economics University and her father is its vice-chancellor.Her mother, Huong Nguyen, flew to Australia earlier this week to watch her daughter's graduation at the University of Wollongong yesterday.Ms Nguyen said her three years at the University of Wollongong came about due to its exchange link with Bangkok's Assumption University."After one semester at Assumption University I realised that my Thai was better than I thought and I wanted to improve my English," she said."Assumption University suggested that I come to Wollongong - I have been here for three years and it has been a great experience."Wollongong is a very nice city - I love its beaches and the lighthouse is my favourite spot, I take a walk around it every week."Ms Nguyen will stay in Wollongong and dive straight into a Master of Finance - she plans to put her education to work when she returns to Hanoi."I want to help the stock exchange improve, but my dream is to develop an industrial park for international companies investing in Vietnam," she said.
